Focus Areas (n): relating to the study of Physical Education, Art, Music, Dance, and Drama at Conn Elementary. The students start each quarter with a rotation through these specials so that they are exposed to the various aspects and concepts of the disipline.
For kindergarten and first grade, the focus areas are 1 week long and the students rotate through all the specials throughout the year.
For grades 2 through 5, after a 3 week rotation, each quarter, the students get to choose the special area they want to study, in-depth, for 6 weeks. During this time, the students engage in an intense study of the given area and engage in long-term projects and activities.
Some examples of Focus Area activities include:
A full stage production with sound, music and acting for grades 3-5. Focus areas can be totaly awsome!(D.H)
